What’s new at Suite3

That darn groundhog… Punxsutawney Phil spotted his shadow earlier this month, a forecast of six more weeks of winter. However, the days are getting warmer and longer, so we know what season comes next – pothole season!

In this month’s newsletter, we announce the end-of-life date for our Innovative Cloud Exchange offering, discuss other names considered besides Suite3, announce a recent certification, and we meet Red Team member Glenn Stedman. Enjoy!

End-of-life announcement

Since 2011, we have offered Innovative Cloud Exchange, or “ICE” to our clients as a hosted Exchange option. To provide ample time for migration planning, we are announcing our intention to take ICE end-of-life by the end of 2019.

ICE was created as an alternative to Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite, or BPOS, the predecessor of Office 365. At the time, support from Microsoft was spotty, and service outages occurred regularly. In recent years, the reliability of Office 365 has improved dramatically, and while licensing costs for running ICE continue to rise, hosted Exchange through Office 365 is affordably available in many different service bundles.

We will be working with our many ICE clients to determine a migration plan from ICE to occur in 2018 or 2019. If you are an ICE subscriber and have any questions, please feel free to contact your Client Relationship Manager to discuss plans for your organization.

Other names not so “Suite”

As I’ve been meeting with clients, it seems many are intrigued by the story of our rebranding as Suite3. As we’ve discussed how we settled on the name, I often mention that they should see some of the “winners” we didn’t select. So… for your enjoyment (and possible ridicule), the following were some of the other names that were on the drawing board besides Suite3:

  • Exycute
  • GreyMatter
  • HopTek (or Hoptech, Hoptic, etc)
  • IndiaTango
  • Provize / Provise
  • Thunderklap
  • TruIT / Trutility
  • and lots of variants of the word Innovative, like GetInnovative, Innovanext, Innovatech, Innovature…

…and those were the good options. We’ll keep some of the other, more off-the-wall candidates (Happy Puppy, for example)… to ourselves.
