The end of support for Adobe Flash Player was December 31, 2020, meaning that security updates will no longer be developed or offered for Flash Player. Microsoft has also announced that its integrated support for Flash Player in their Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers will also be eliminated via Windows Update around the same time.
Further, Adobe has indicated that they will block Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021. It is not immediately clear how Adobe will enforce this edict, or if this will prevent line-of-business applications that run local Flash content from running.
Beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Suite3 will be leveraging its ManageSuite remote monitoring and management service to automatically and persistently remove Adobe Flash Player, as well as any remnants of Adobe Shockwave from our clients’ systems. Clients that still depend on Flash Player for business content can submit a service ticket to us, so we can make an exception to this automatic removal policy for you. Exceptions can be made at the client, branch location, or endpoint level.
We always strongly urge our clients to remove unsupported software from their environments to minimize their security risk profile.
